CROSS-COUNTRY SKIING
Become one with nature and your own body. On the extensive stretch of cross-country loipes in Ski amadé – 714 kms in total – you have sufficient opportunity to consciously enjoy physical fitness and the beautiful winter landscape.
Cross-country skiing is optimal for endurance and wellness athletes. And for this reason attracts many newcomers. At special cross-country courses you learn how to handle cross-country skis in next to no time and can soon start to discover the pleasures of the loipe.
Advanced skiers can also make use of the opportunity to get to know the latest cross-country techniques under the supervision of experienced instructors.
TOBOGGANING
Be sure not to miss a tobogganing session on one of our many natural runs. Whether by day or beneath the stars, whether romantic or full of action. The resorts of Ski amadé are crisscrossed with toboggan runs that suit every taste and meet all demands.
ICE-SKATING AND CURLING
For those who are searching for a relaxing alternative to fun on the piste. In each of the regions, well-groomed natural and artificial ice-skating rinks invite you to relaxed gliding and sliding in a scenic location.
Even more action on the ice
Whoever wants an extra portion of fun on the ice should try his luck on the numerous curling lanes. One of the oldest and simplest kinds of ice sport, curling is the ideal opportunity to relax amongst friends or to come into contact with the local people. And above all, to prove strength and skill at the popular guest tournaments.
SNOW SHOE WALKING
Do you love the tranquillity and remoteness of the countryside? Then a snowshoe hike is exactly what you are looking for! During one of the guided tours, which are offered all winter long in the regions of Ski amadé, you will trudge uphill across sun-drenched hillsides and through glistening snows. The animals of the forest were the only creatures here before you, as evidenced by the tracks you may run across from time to time.

SOMMERRODELBAHN BIBERG
The Biberg in Saalfelden is a popular excursion destination, especially because of the 1.6 km-long Alpine ride. Climb in and away you go!

E-BIKE
Hochkönig is the World’s Nr 1 E-BIKE region with a network of charging stations on the mountain as well as in the valley, compatible with all current e-bike systems.
The summer can bring on as much as you want! You’ll be able to bike comfortably through the mountains and hill country of the Hochkönig region from the end of June on, while barely breaking in sweat. Enjoy the easy ride up to the mountaintops. Once there, the hut host will serve you wonderful pancakes, while your e-bike is being recharged.
You can obtain the current e-bike program directly from the Tourist offices in Muhlbach.
TENNIS
The 4 sand courts in Mühlbach are located at the entrance of the towncenter in the direction of Pronebengut. Court reservation can be made right on-site at the tennis court!
THE HOCHKÖNIG OUTDOOR & ADVENTURE POOLS
- Muhlbach:
At Mühlbach, in the town center, you wil find the heatable outdoor pool with a large sunbathing area and separate kid’s pool. For the tiniest ones, the elephant slide ensures fun and refreshing variety ! - Maria Alm:
At Maria Alm, the Sommerstein adventure pool offers endless aqua fun with a 40m long water slide, jet stream, floor bubbler, dousing showers, bench with massage nozzles, kid’s pool and playground.

GEOCACHING
Geocaching is a modern treasure hunt using a GPS device. The coordinates for the caches are exchanged via the website www.hochkoenig.at/muehlbach or at geocaching.com. It’s a global game and everyone is invited to participate. Believe it or not, world-wide there are already more than 1.5 million geocaches.
Basic Principle: People, hikers, families, children …. hide all kinds of nice little things, for example a notebook, pocket knife etc., in the so-called “caches”. The hiding place is then published in the form of coordinates posted on the Internet. Equipped with a GPS device, you can now set out on an exciting treasure hunt. When you find the treasure, you swap the treasure in the container for one of your own, log your visit and hide the container back in the same place you found it – for the next person who happens to come along …
Of course, when those treasures were hidden in Mühlbach in our Mountain Village of Animals, we also gave thought to the different capabilities of every one of our treasure hunters. That’s why you will find easy tours for families with children, but true adventurers and experienced geocachers will also be thrilled as well. In Mühlbach alone, over 50 of these treasures are hidden and waiting to be found by you (20 in Dienten). GPS equipment can be borrowed at no charge from the tourist office in Mühlbach!
ROCK CLIMBING
The Hochkönig is one of the mightiest rocks in the Northern Alps, lying at the south-eastern corner of the Berchtesgaden Alps. The Hochkönig has a wealth of variety in store for climbers, lovers of fixed-rope trails and truly ambitious mountaineers.

Experienced mountaineers will definitely get their money’s worth on the Königsjodler, one of Austria’s top climbing trails. And if you wish to warm up those climbing muscles a little beforehand, you might want to head to the Grandlspitz climbing trail first. - Rock Climbing on the Hochkönig
